This batch covers a lot of ground: a 30-year-old Austin sushi counter, a Brazilian cafe built entirely around tapioca, a Covington pizza shop putting miso and wagyu sausage on 72-hour fermented dough, and a self-pour wine room in Delray Beach with 2,500 bottles on tap. Family-owned sports bar on Route 100, open since 2002. Twenty-four TVs, 16 draft beers, and a patio that won Best of Main Line. The menu runs from wings and cheesesteaks to an Impossible Burger and a full Doggie Menu (yes, for actual dogs). Trivia on Tuesdays, karaoke on Wednesdays, and lunch combos starting at $10.99.

Bayside Clam Bar & Grill
East Islip, NY
Waterfront seafood spot on the Great South Bay at East Islip Marina. You’re watching Fire Island from your table. Fresh seafood, handcrafted cocktails, local Long Island brews, and live music on the calendar. Note: this is a seasonal restaurant, so check hours before heading out.

Bella Napoli
Schaumburg, IL
Neapolitan pizza fired in a custom-built wood oven at 900 degrees. The Fig & Pig pie and the classic Margherita are the ones to try, made with imported San Marzano tomatoes and fresh mozzarella. Happy hour runs Monday through Friday, 3:30 to 6. Private events and catering available.

Bite Me Cupcakery
Huntsville, AL
Half cupcake shop, half sandwich counter. “The Iconic 6” cupcakes are the signature lineup, and The Sandwich Counter runs chef-driven creations alongside them. Open seven days, 10 AM to 8 PM on weekdays, 9 PM on weekends. The branding doesn’t hold back (“Life’s Short. Eat the Iconic Ones.”), and neither do the portions.
Camelot Lanes
Youngstown, OH
Bowling alley with a bar and kitchen in Boardman. The Pizza Pins & Pop package runs $69.95 per lane for up to six people and includes two hours of bowling, shoes, a large pizza, and a pitcher. Cosmic bowling on Friday and Saturday nights bumps the price to $89.95. Monday is 18+ night with a $10 cover that converts to $10 in credit for bowling, food, or drinks.

Chaska
Cranston, RI
The name means “obsession” in Hindi, and the concept backs it up. Chaska is the fourth location from Rhode Island’s Indian Restaurant Group (the same family behind Rasoi, Rasa, and Kabob and Curry, all also on this list). The kitchen blends Indian flavors with French plating and Spanish tapas-style sharing. Craft cocktails, catering, and takeout available.

Coach’s Corner Grill
Purcellville, VA
Family-owned sports bar with Maryland roots, and the crab cakes prove it. Eastern Shore Style Crab Cake sandwich for $19, wings by the pound or two ($14-$26), Viking Burger for $16. Everything’s made in-house, including the sauces and hand-cut fries. Twenty-plus TVs and late-night hours (open until 2 AM Thursday through Sunday).

Coexist GameHouse
New York, NY
Gaming lounge, co-working space, and bar on West 38th Street. The Dollar Bar is exactly what it sounds like. Membership-based, with corporate memberships available for team events. Esports tournaments, a production studio, and a Music Monday series round out the programming. Open until 2 AM on weekends. Also runs a 501(c)(3) non-profit arm called Coexist Cares.

Crosstown Brewing Co
Memphis, TN
Memphis-brewed craft beer on Concourse Avenue. The flagship lineup includes Karl (a hazy IPA), Fool’s Gold Lager, and Boris, a bourbon barrel-aged Russian Imperial Stout for the adventurous. Full kitchen on-site, live music, and event space rentals for private functions. Open daily, 11 AM to 10 PM (8 PM Sundays).

Elliott Bay Brewery & Pub
Seattle, WA
Seattle’s first organic brewery, family-owned since 1997. The West Seattle location on California Ave SW has the original cozy brick-walled pub and a menu of fish and chips, burgers, and organic house-brewed beers. Party space available for private events.
Elliott Bay Brewhouse & Pub

The Burien outpost, opened in 2007, sits near Sea-Tac airport. Travelers waiting for arrivals have been known to post up here. Same organic beer lineup as the West Seattle original, plus shuffleboard and multiple private event spaces including a Brewer’s Room and full patio.

King Dough Pizza

Voted Best Pizza in Indianapolis by Indianapolis Monthly readers in 2024, and Best Pizza in Indiana by Indiana Connection in 2025. The dough is naturally leavened, hand-rolled, and stone-baked. Lovers Seafood and Market

Half restaurant, half fresh seafood market on West Lover’s Lane. Oysters, king crab, lobster rolls, gumbo, and what locals call “Dallas’ Best Burger.” Happy hour runs Monday through Friday, 3 to 5, with $10 cheeseburgers, $2 oysters, and $5 martinis. Sunday fried chicken dinner is worth noting. Part of the Fearing Restaurant Group (same ownership as Shinsei, also on this list).

Lucky Penny
Los Olivos, CA
The building is tiled with over 150,000 real copper pennies. Inside, a wood-burning oven fires Neapolitan-style pies at 900 degrees. The Los Olivos location also serves breakfast pastries, coffee, and ice cream. Part of Acme Hospitality, with a sister location in Santa Barbara’s Funk Zone.

Maru Sushi & Grill

Five locations across Michigan, from Grand Rapids to Brighton. Owner Robert Song and Director of Culinary Arts Chef Moon Yang run a menu of handcrafted sushi rolls, sharing plates, and Japanese-inspired cocktails. Happy hour Monday through Friday. Catering available.

Murray’s Pizza and Wine

Co-executive chefs Deets Hoffman and Edward Thompson built Murray’s around a 3-day fermented dough made with Barton Springs Mill organic flour. The restaurant is named after Deets’ wife, Murray. Natural wines from small producers, Texas-based spirits, and a cocktail list that includes a Frozen Negroni. Chef de Cuisine Miguel Torres has appeared on Guy’s Grocery Games.

Musashino Sushi Dokoro
Austin, TX
Over 30 years in Austin, and still the go-to for traditional sushi in the city. Counter seating lets you watch the chefs work. The signature roll list includes the 34 Special, Black Sabbath, and Texas Roadkill. Dinner only, Tuesday through Saturday, reservations on Resy. Closed Sundays and Mondays.

Gastropub on Dorman Street sourcing from local farms: Fischer Farms beef, Miller chicken, Barton Springs Mill flour. Smash Burger $12, Fried Chicken Sando $15, Buffalo Wings (8) $15. Add $2 to “Make it Dirty” with a cheese crust on the outside. Late-night hours, catering, and a loyalty app called Stacks.
Rasa Restaurant

“Rasa” means “essence” in Sanskrit. The Dhar family opened this one after decades running Kabob and Curry, Rasoi, and Chaska across Rhode Island. Concentrated flavors from plants, fruits, and spices, plus a full bar with craft cocktails. Catering and reservations available.

The Dhar family’s fourth Rhode Island restaurant. “Rasoi” means “kitchen” in Hindi. Open kitchen, modern decor, and a monthly rotating menu inspired by a different region of India each time. Family-friendly. Catering available.

Shinsei Restaurant

Celebrating 20 years on Inwood Road near the Katy Trail. Shuji Sugawara (everyone calls him Elvis) runs the sushi bar, with fresh fish flown in daily. The menu spans nigiri and pressed sushi to robata grill items and Thai fried rice. Private dining room seats 24, plus The Courtyard, a fully enclosed patio. 100% gluten-free Brazilian cafe built around tapioca. Pao de queijo (Brazilian cheese bread), acai bowls, and tapioca sandwiches, all from a kitchen with zero cross-contamination. Japanese ingredients on wood-fired pizza, and it works better than you’d think. The dough cold-ferments for 72 hours. The Sosēji pie features Snake River Farms wagyu sausage, blistered shishitos, and Parmigiano-Reggiano ($20). The Shiso Margherita tops San Marzano tomatoes with torn shiso and furikake ($18). Craft cocktails lean Japanese too: yuzu, sakura syrup, black sesame. Same ownership group as Whiskey Yard (also on this list).
