Bellacino’s Pizza & Grinders

Everything at Bellacino’s is oven-baked from scratch, every day. The signature grinders (not toasted, baked on fresh bread) come stuffed with combinations like thinly sliced ribeye steak with mushrooms, onions, and green peppers, or Italian ham, sausage, and salami piled high. A four-course lunch costs $80. A five-course dinner runs $140. You eat both on the upper deck of a glass-roofed double-decker bus rolling past Central Park, Times Square, and the Brooklyn Bridge. Bustronome started in Paris and now operates in four cities worldwide, with professional chefs cooking a seasonal menu onboard. The New York route departs from W. 58th and Broadway, and drink pairings are available for an upcharge.

Cousins Subs

Two cousins started making subs in Milwaukee in 1972, and the Wisconsin chain now operates across the state with a motto of “Better Bread. Better Subs.” The menu splits between grilled and deli-fresh submarines, and catering comes in 12-piece or 20-piece party boxes with individually wrapped pieces. A rewards app and the Cousins Club loyalty program give regulars a reason to keep ordering ahead.
El Compadre

Family-owned since 2004, El Compadre now has six locations across southern Indiana, from Bedford to historic Paoli. Paul and Wendy Hamilton were named Missouri’s Restaurateurs of the Year in 2012, and their flagship restaurant has been serving Tuscan-Californian cuisine in a converted International Shoe factory since 2003. Executive Chef Trevor Ploeger works with ingredients grown in the restaurant’s own commercial hydroponic greenhouse. NYC hospitality veterans Dominique Paulin and Chef Olivier Muller opened this modern French brasserie on Bloomfield Avenue in Montclair in 2019, and it landed on NJ Monthly’s Best Restaurants list almost immediately. A second location near the Weehawken waterfront followed in 2024. The bi-level Montclair space includes an upstairs lounge and private dining rooms. Reservations run through Resy.

Over 20 years in Hayward, and they’re still packing the weekend dinner buffet. The signature move is a Brazilian-style live grill experience: lamb chops, tandoori shrimp, achari chicken tikka, and paneer tikka carved tableside in continuous service. The regular menu covers Punjabi and North Indian staples from butter chicken to dal makhani, all Zabiha Halal, with a Saturday lunch buffet featuring 30-plus dishes. The first Ford’s Garage opened in 2012 in Fort Myers, less than a mile from Henry Ford’s winter home. As an official licensee of the Ford Motor Company, every location is built out like a 1920s service station, complete with vintage Ford vehicles and hand-hammered copper bar tops. The menu centers on Black Angus burgers and a massive craft beer selection. They offer a 10% military discount and a 10% Ford Motor Company employee discount.

Gochees Pizza
San Francisco, CA
Tucked into the ground floor of 2 Embarcadero Center, Gochees runs a tight weekday-only operation (9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.) aimed squarely at the Financial District lunch crowd. Pies come in six sizes, from a 10-inch personal ($15 for cheese, $18 for specialty) up to a 20-inch “Huge.” The menu splits between Chicago-style deep dish and New York-influenced thin crust. Beer and wine are available, and catering trays feed the conference room.
Hamilton’s Urban Steakhouse & Bourbon Bar

Only 100% Heritage Breed Black Angus beef from Iowa Premium makes it onto the menu, and Far & Wide ranked Hamilton’s the 39th best steakhouse in the country. Astoria’s first ramen-ya has been boiling tonkotsu broth for 17 straight hours since 2011. HinoMaru specializes in seven regional Japanese styles, from Sapporo miso to Kagoshima, with every broth made in-house. The signature bowl comes loaded with braised chashu pork, kikurage, menma, a fireball, and nori. They’ve earned a Michelin mention, and pickup orders run directly through their site.
Latuff’s Pizzeria & Pannekoeken Huis

Plymouth’s oldest restaurant has been open since 1971, and it now pulls double duty. Mornings bring the revived Pannekoeken Huis, relocated from St. Louis Park with the original Dutch pancake recipes intact. Danny and Kathryn Fowler brought their Kentucky barbecue recipes to Carlsbad in 1954, and 70 years later the same pit is still smoking with local pecan wood. Now in its third generation under Jill and Edgar Torres, the restaurant moved into a log cabin built from timber cut in the Sacramento Mountains. The sourdough cobbler recipe came from an old cattle drive cook. Open Tuesday through Saturday, with family packs and catering alongside dine-in and carryout.
